I've found that there are many tools, techniques and tips to songwriting. But more importantly, I've discovered that the single most important element of songwriting is the individuality of the songwriter. We are all original - and if we use that, our songs will be original, too. And if we learn the tools and techniques along the way, our songwriting will go to the next level.

So after years of research, I now want to share my findings.

Ok, so how do we do it? And is there a formula for writing great songs?

Well, no! There is no formula for writing great songs as there are just too many elements in the songwriting process. But there, I said it... it's a process. On the macro level, music + lyrics = song.

​

That may be really obvious and not very instructive so let's get specific.

Let's narrow it down and look just at how to start writing a lyric - a common issue when we sit facing the dreaded blank page. I can tell you that there is a very specific process you can follow in order to write awesome raw material for your lyrics and fill that blank page.

I would even go as far as saying it can be boiled down to a formula! And this raw material will be dynamite for your songs - making them meaningful and powerful, plus it will put an end to writer's block. I've named it The Sense Formula.
